[IMEEJI] Question Meme
I'm notoriously bad at these but I also have nothing else to do today. So feel free to ask me any burning questions you have about Anubis/his impressions of people and stuff/whatever, and I'll ask you a question back. And then we can keep going until I inevitably wander away.

Anubis sees Loki as one of the more straightforward members of sensitIV. Loki can be hot-headed but he obviously cares a lot about everyone in the unit, and Anubis trusts him implicitly to always do what he thinks is best for them (while also acknowledging that what Loki thinks is best and what is actually best might not, in fact, be the same thing, but it's the thought that counts). Even though they can butt heads when it comes to decisions during a game, he doesn't have any animosity towards Loki at all -- he can tell where he's coming from and sees it as perfectly valid. When he briefly lost his temper in the last game, he was less angry at Loki than he was the situation in general. Which... he's a little concerned about how continued trauma games are going to affect Loki, since Loki seems like he has the potential to be really emotionally wounded by this stuff. He's a good dog, Brent, and that's not necessarily a great thing to be in this situation.
Speaking of being a good dog, there's a lot about Loki that's really cute. Two recent examples include his cluelessness about 99's existence, and his surprise passion for theater. It was fun to see Loki get all fired up about something he's interested in and enjoys, even if the end product was a mess. It was a fun mess! He's just comfortable spending time around Loki in general, and is looking forward to playing cards/board games/etc with him when they've got the points to spare for buying that stuff. Also, Anubis is starting to learn that gently bullying Loki can be pretty great and also result in cute behavior? Whoops!! Sorry not sorry.
Additionally uh Loki is hot which is hard not to notice with scarce clothing. I mean, everyone on sensitIV is hot, but, Y'KNOW.
Reverse!!

anyways Loki's first impression of Anubis was a fairly normal guy who doesn't make much of an impression honestly. He thought he was soft and cute but like, ultimately very soft spoken and kind of in the background. Now that they've gotten to know each other a bit better he still thinks that Bakura is kind of background-ey but that's just like... in comparison to everyone else around him who is either loud and opinionated (loki, santa) or very noticeably Off (persephone, lucifel) so it's like. ... well Anubis is, in comparison, still probably the most normal person here but he's actually pretty cool and they even get to bond over some nerdy shit like theater and poker!
(For the record if you ever DO decided to teach Loki something like yugioh or table top games he's going to love it. that sort of competitive and/or dramatic/campy shit is right up his alley.)
When Anubis lost his temper last game actually Dantalion didn't think it was at him? Rather he kind of processed it as Anubis losing his temper with him if that makes sense... it kind of shook him but like, in a positive way. As in... he suddenly realized that Anubis was struggling with more or less the same things he was, he's just more quiet and level headed about it. And Anubis snapping like he did actually helped to make Dantalion more aware of Anubis' own feelings. Because Dantalion has the tendency to get caught up in his own emotions about a thing and actually the best way to get him to take a step back when he's riled up is to either soothe him into submission or shout back in his face. And it really depends on the situation which one works.
BUT THE POINT IS like, Anubis actually managed to make Dantalion take a step back in both games now and he's aware of that and really grateful for it, honestly. He's aware that he can get really worked up very easily and he's not too smart and easily frustrated laughs. So he really appreciates having Anubis around to be a reasonable person.
Hmmmmm.... what are Anubis' thoughts on sensitIV as a whole I suppose?

He would have been protective of the unit no matter what but that factor just kind of adds to it. Lucifel is clearly very smart but missing some foundational building blocks, Santa and Loki are both very caring people but have quick tempers and resort to violence pretty easily, and Persephone is calm and capable but also seems most likely to probably straight-up murder someone. Anubis isn't quite sure what's "off" about himself, but he's 100% sure there's something there, so it's not as though the protectiveness is any sort of... how to put it. It's not out of a sense of "oh I'm somehow in a better position to protect the unit." It's just a judgement-free assessment of reality plus his own earnest desire to take care of the people he cares about.
He's indescribably glad that everyone gets along and likes each other, because the alternative would be really unpleasant to deal with. Despite everyone's priorities and skillsets and background knowledge remaining after amnesia are different, but so far there hasn't been a situation that's been a brick wall of "no we can't agree on this." Something that still stands out in his mind is how when the arm-breaking requirement was announced at the end of the first game, the participating members of sensitIV all reacted without surprise and prioritized sticking together in case of an attack. SORT OF A, "DEEP DOWN ON SOME LEVEL WE'RE ALL ON THE SAME PAGE HUH" KIND OF THING.
The problem with everyone having amnesia is that it can make it hard to know how well you actually know someone??? But Anubis universally wants to get to know everyone on sensitIV better; he genuinely LIKES everyone on sensitIV, and not just because they're unitmates. Everyone's interesting, everyone's nice! He feels like he fits in. It makes him happy whenever he can express physical affection with them (and even happier when he's not the one to initiate it because /////).
He acknowledges that sensitIV's fashion aesthetic is a little weird, but he doesn't have any real complaints about it. It definitely makes them easy to pick out of a crowd.
Actually, what does Loki think of sensitIV's aesthetic in general? Not just the fashion part, but the assigned role of "the healer team" and the emphasis on emotional vulnerability.

gosh that's a good question actually.
you didn't say "not the fashion part" so I'm actually going to talk about that briefly before tackling the other stuff. Cause Dantalion actually really unironically likes the visual aesthetic of sensitIV. He likes cute things! And he likes dramatic things. But he's also still keenly aware that he looks weird in sensitIV fashion... partially just intrinsically he's aware of this (there's also a lot of self consciousness he's not actually aware of because of amnesia), but also because of what other people have said etc. He's too big to be cute in cute things. 8( Sad.
But that's not really what you asked for so I'll stop before it becomes five paragraphs about how Dantalion wants to be cute but he can't be cute. THE ROLE AND ALSO THE EMOTIONAL VULNERABILITY STUFF, HUM...
The thing is that Dantalion is naturally very emotionally vulnerable... And it's partially my own personal hang ups with having him "act" emotionally vulnerable, and his own like... inability to really fake his emotions, but it's just difficult for him. He thinks it's annoying and embarrassing, and the initial reaction of most of the teams to their live really didn't help matters. Like at first he thought it might be fun, but then he just got Actually Upset?
I guess that's the ultimate problem is when it comes to lives, it's not on a stage and he's only ever personally met mockery or otherwise negative reactions to it so he doesn't like it..... and since he doesn't like it he gets actually upset. And since he gets actually upset it's not a game anymore. And then of course if there's real feelings involved he doesn't actually want to put himself on display then. Besides if he's REALLY upset he just doesn't think about it...
As for the healing thing! Honestly he's already decided that stuff's not really for him, and he's already decided that if the rest of his team is going to heal he's going to serve as a sort of contrast... by buying the more offensively capable abilities such as Numb and Rewind. Though after the last game where Lucifel was the hostage instead of him he's a little bit BT BT BT BT BT was this useless??? If another game happens and another sensitIV gets targeted that's not him he's going to be really upset and think that it really was pointless for him to get Numb lol.
Anyways he's pretty okay with not being the healer type on the team mostly because he's already decided that since he's one of the more aggressive and less willing to compromise members of sensitIV that just makes him the attack dog. It's fine!!!!
Honestly since he hasn't actually seen or heard from any fans their general existence is nebulous to him too. So he doesn't feel the need to play into the asethetic all that much at all lmao. He's really just more focused on like... discovering himself, and being there for/protecting sensitIV I guess. And finding food that isn't horrible. Those are his biggest concerns in imeeji right now.
Speaking of concerns, what are Anubis' biggest concerns actually? Like what direction is he going in, do you have any plans? What's he most worried about what are his goals etc....

Right now Anubis is most worried about what's going to happen when someone dies. It's obviously going to happen, and probably soon. His assumptions are: 1) the Producers have the ability to bring someone back from the dead because WHY WOULDN'T THEY with everything else they can do, 2) letting someone stay dead would be a waste of the time and money they've invested into that person so they're not going to do it. But he doesn't know for sure and there are so many unknowns! Plus, what if sensitIV gets blamed for not being able to heal them in time?
His long-term goal is to keep collecting info until he's got something he can use to upset the power balance. He mentioned to Intensity that one idea he's had is making a feint intended to catch the Producers off guard and hopefully learn something really useful, but he doesn't know what would work for that at this point or how to actually have it be a surprise.
His short-term goal has been to buy the three healing skills so that he is Officially Prepared(TM) next time, and he's soooooo close to being able to afford the last one. After that, he's not sure what he's going to spend points on (memories still seem like a big points sink without a guaranteed reward), but he'd like to maybe buy something nice for sensitIV and Nine...? Also he's a YGO so obviously another priority is getting a chance to play some games that don't suck (read: aren't run by the producers/hosts).
As far as MY plans/goals for him go, I'm looking forward to whenever he has his first actual breakdown because that will be fun and he'll probably throw things.
Top three things Loki wants in Imeeji, not counting stuff like "getting rid of the producers/regaining every memory all at once/not being trapped in idol hell"?
