[IMEEJI] Question Meme
I'm notoriously bad at these but I also have nothing else to do today. So feel free to ask me any burning questions you have about Anubis/his impressions of people and stuff/whatever, and I'll ask you a question back. And then we can keep going until I inevitably wander away.
(disclaimer: I'm going to be taking a nap so answers will not appear right away.)

but yeah Anubis just seems like a very stable and civil person with a good head on his shoulders. Yasuragi didn't really consider the live embarrassing in the least on either of their parts and if anything is more just impressed that somehow no one started laughing. he's not very innnterested in Anubis but he is def likely to hit him up if he needs to contact sensitIV on some diplomatic or formal or professional level. in fact he is likely to hit him up soon to ask about if a contract for healing prices is still on the table
tell me about Anubis and 99 in imeeji currently actually
no subject
Longer answer: First off, he doesn't suspect that they're not actually twins. He has no reason to suspect that, since, you know, when two people are identical, Occam's razor would indicate "twins" instead of "actually you're usually in a bodyshare situation where he possesses you sometimes so he's got a literal copy of your body here." Buuuut it would be wrong to say that he just considers Nine his brother, because there's a lot more to it than that.
Anubis is bad at personal space in general, but he, like, doesn't recognize the two of them having those boundaries when it comes to each other at all. Physical contact with Nine is reassuring and he likes it. He also really likes being in a unique position to both call Nine on his bullshit when he gets a little too out there and to be there to support him when he needs it. PLUS Nine has repeatedly gone out of his way to do some really nice things for Anubis (share things up to and including points and memories with him, create an escape room in the vid room for the two of them, etc) and that means the world to him.
... basically if you take away the assumption that they're twins, as far as Anubis' feelings go, one might assume they were dating. SO THAT'S A THING. And it's not like he's secretly having a crisis over "oh no he's my brother but I also kind of want to kiss him." He just accepts it and doesn't really see a problem with it. It just... hasn't come up?
It's going to be interesting when they eventually start to realize the truth of their situation, because there's no way that Anubis is going turn his back on Nine despite some of the awful shit he's done. I mean, even his non-amnesiac self keeps putting the Ring back on.
SO YEAH. It's not so much "it's complicated" as it is "it could get complicated in the future depending on how this goes."
How are things going internally in Taisho after the last game from Yasuragi's perspective?
no subject
honestly they're fine as far as Yasuragi is aware, in terms of like, getting along. they're a bit scattered emotionally but he only really knows how to engage them individually on that and even then "knows" is a strong word. he's most concerned over Maki because she definitely took it the worst, but also doesn't know... Ken or Okami well enough... to realize they also took it kind of hard. he hasn't really checked up on them or Iorime emotionally though he's... vaguely made motions at supporting them, in his own way.
Kuzuebiko is his own bag of worms but honestly Yasuragi isn't really concerned about him buying an axe the way everyone else is. HE SEEMS TO BE FEELING BETTER, THAT'S GOOD. there's some mild worry to be had over what exactly changed about him still, but frankly on the Kuzuebiko front Yasuragi is mostly caught up in his own feelings and anxious that he's said things now that will make Kuzuebiko not like him anymore.
uhhh all in all Yasuragi's answer would be "Idk we're managing." he's... I can't say not smart but also he's a little stupid. bad at feelings. very bad at feelings.
I just realized I can be maximum self-indulgent and ask people about their thoughts on Mukuro on these things. WHAT ARE ANUBIS'S THOUGHTS ON MUKURO
no subject
The worst part about Mukuro is that he doesn't engage with the units at all. Exael talked to people on a one-on-one basis and her attitude of "lmao ikr but hey that's show business for ya!" was more... "likeable" isn't the word, but it was more palatable? Easier to understand? Something like that. Meanwhile, Mukuro always addresses the audience instead, so it feels a lot more dismissive of the actual participants in his games. That plus the fact that he claims to have recently graduated from being an idol himself makes Anubis feel uncharitable and "what the fuck is wrong with you" about him. What did he do, sell out completely and go along with the whims of the Producers? If he's had to go through something similar, then why is he so thoughtlessly cruel? Like, oddly enough, Anubis would find it more reasonable if Mukuro were more overtly sadistic, because at least then there'd be obvious reasoning behind his actions other than him just loving to be on camera. It doesn't help that Mukuro obviously knows what the fuck's going on so if they could just talk to him...
tl;dr 99 told Anubis after the last game that he might ask him to help with murdering Mukuro and Anubis' reaction was like "oh yeah I thought that was already on the agenda for sure." And Anubis isn't even generally pro-murder.
What's your dream unit composition for pep!pep!
no subject
- Saegusa Ibara: manic pixie dream asshole #2, an orphan military brat turned catfisher shadow leader idol who theoretically is capable of putting on a good idol face but I'm not sure how much I'm supposed to believe that when he starts laughing maniacally about how he's the worst person ever during the middle of a show. at one point he also sends a terrorist threat to a rival school so he can infiltrate them and steal files on his competition. can have either one or both of him and Hiyori on the unit, I think [Ensemble Stars]
- Kumagawa Misogi
- Vector and/or Tron
- Yoshiwara Anri: manic pixie dream asshole #3, an aggressively bisexual brocon who does A Lot of murders and A Lot of blackmail and A Lot of performing stripteases for large groups of women for fun, also an inventor, like of weapons and planes and shit, who staged a hostile takeover of a military branch to gain political immunity but is also forcing his brother to eventually kill him [Adekan]
- Siete: neither manic nor a pixie nor an asshole, nor anyone's dream, he is just a friendly guy who really likes swords and weapons and collecting socially awkward people to his family of weapon-masters. all he wants is to have Christmas dinner with them but no one ever comes. [Granblue Fantasy]
which I was going to say is just judging individually and is not realistically a team we would put together because they would get on like a house on fire but actually I think, considering probable amnesia trajectories and if you leave Tron off, they might be... surprisingly balanced?? basically though I just want people on pep!pep! who would use the "invasive questions" live to its absolute worst full potential. sometimes that means they are Siete. Aonibi/Ainezu might be good too, leaning more on the education live especially, but on the other hand would it be a shame to not put him on sensitIV or future is now?
I edited this so it's like, legible.

- Vector absolutely needs to be on pep!pep! like CAN U EVEN IMAGINE (that's rhetorical, I know you can and Understand Me on this).
- N (Pokémon). He'd hit it out of the park for both invasive questions AND education. DO YOU BELIEVE HUMANITY DESERVES TO EXIST? WHY? followed by LET'S TALK ABOUT THE BEAUTY OF EQUATIONS. He is physically incapable of not operating at at least 2x intensity at all times. Something just ain't right about that boy.
- Infel (ar Tonelico). I guess she'd also fit in well on future is now, but I seem to be assembling a former final boss squad here, so WHY STOP NOW. Her mix of extreme pessimism about people vs her desire to be optimistic would lead to some pretty interesting polls. Plus she'd probably enjoy conducting actual experiments to ensure that everyone's powers were being utilized at maximum efficiency.
- Larxene (Kingdom Hearts). She loves uncomfortable questions and making people squirm, and she's already got the association with electricity. Plus if there was a Nobody on pep!pep! think of all the jokes that they would inevitably make about feelings and "lmao does using the magical equivalent of an AED work if you don't have a heart."
- Aino Minako (Sailor Moon). It would be a crime for her to not be on HSS, but listen. Listen. Just think about it for a little bit. Lifting people's moods, an excuse to be nosy as hell, and we already know the seifuku aesthetic works on her. Plus I like the idea of her as a moral compass for a bunch of confused villains.
THIS WAS HARDER THAN I THOUGHT because I kept coming up with characters and then being like "well maybe they'd be better on x team instead--"
What're some games you'd really like to see run in Imeeji?
no subject
god ok so I kinda make fun of myself for being incapable of doing anything but mauling people as a game runner, luckily that's why my primary npc isn't interested in doing anything but mauling people-
ELEVATOR GAME IS A CLASSIC. I want it real bad. war rooms are always good too although I think people would be less upset about it in imeeji's current climate. I didn't play in Say Uncle before but I'd be interested in seeing how it goes, and I always love Cry Wolf. elevator and cry wolf are definitely my top 2, followed by Beauty/Trickster. I have another game which is actually new which I just thought up like today that won't run for a while but I am excited to kill everyo--
I also want kissing bingo.
reverse but also, what games would Bakura icly have fun with??

Anubis sees Loki as one of the more straightforward members of sensitIV. Loki can be hot-headed but he obviously cares a lot about everyone in the unit, and Anubis trusts him implicitly to always do what he thinks is best for them (while also acknowledging that what Loki thinks is best and what is actually best might not, in fact, be the same thing, but it's the thought that counts). Even though they can butt heads when it comes to decisions during a game, he doesn't have any animosity towards Loki at all -- he can tell where he's coming from and sees it as perfectly valid. When he briefly lost his temper in the last game, he was less angry at Loki than he was the situation in general. Which... he's a little concerned about how continued trauma games are going to affect Loki, since Loki seems like he has the potential to be really emotionally wounded by this stuff. He's a good dog, Brent, and that's not necessarily a great thing to be in this situation.
Speaking of being a good dog, there's a lot about Loki that's really cute. Two recent examples include his cluelessness about 99's existence, and his surprise passion for theater. It was fun to see Loki get all fired up about something he's interested in and enjoys, even if the end product was a mess. It was a fun mess! He's just comfortable spending time around Loki in general, and is looking forward to playing cards/board games/etc with him when they've got the points to spare for buying that stuff. Also, Anubis is starting to learn that gently bullying Loki can be pretty great and also result in cute behavior? Whoops!! Sorry not sorry.
Additionally uh Loki is hot which is hard not to notice with scarce clothing. I mean, everyone on sensitIV is hot, but, Y'KNOW.
Reverse!!

anyways Loki's first impression of Anubis was a fairly normal guy who doesn't make much of an impression honestly. He thought he was soft and cute but like, ultimately very soft spoken and kind of in the background. Now that they've gotten to know each other a bit better he still thinks that Bakura is kind of background-ey but that's just like... in comparison to everyone else around him who is either loud and opinionated (loki, santa) or very noticeably Off (persephone, lucifel) so it's like. ... well Anubis is, in comparison, still probably the most normal person here but he's actually pretty cool and they even get to bond over some nerdy shit like theater and poker!
(For the record if you ever DO decided to teach Loki something like yugioh or table top games he's going to love it. that sort of competitive and/or dramatic/campy shit is right up his alley.)
When Anubis lost his temper last game actually Dantalion didn't think it was at him? Rather he kind of processed it as Anubis losing his temper with him if that makes sense... it kind of shook him but like, in a positive way. As in... he suddenly realized that Anubis was struggling with more or less the same things he was, he's just more quiet and level headed about it. And Anubis snapping like he did actually helped to make Dantalion more aware of Anubis' own feelings. Because Dantalion has the tendency to get caught up in his own emotions about a thing and actually the best way to get him to take a step back when he's riled up is to either soothe him into submission or shout back in his face. And it really depends on the situation which one works.
BUT THE POINT IS like, Anubis actually managed to make Dantalion take a step back in both games now and he's aware of that and really grateful for it, honestly. He's aware that he can get really worked up very easily and he's not too smart and easily frustrated laughs. So he really appreciates having Anubis around to be a reasonable person.
Hmmmmm.... what are Anubis' thoughts on sensitIV as a whole I suppose?
no subject
He would have been protective of the unit no matter what but that factor just kind of adds to it. Lucifel is clearly very smart but missing some foundational building blocks, Santa and Loki are both very caring people but have quick tempers and resort to violence pretty easily, and Persephone is calm and capable but also seems most likely to probably straight-up murder someone. Anubis isn't quite sure what's "off" about himself, but he's 100% sure there's something there, so it's not as though the protectiveness is any sort of... how to put it. It's not out of a sense of "oh I'm somehow in a better position to protect the unit." It's just a judgement-free assessment of reality plus his own earnest desire to take care of the people he cares about.
He's indescribably glad that everyone gets along and likes each other, because the alternative would be really unpleasant to deal with. Despite everyone's priorities and skillsets and background knowledge remaining after amnesia are different, but so far there hasn't been a situation that's been a brick wall of "no we can't agree on this." Something that still stands out in his mind is how when the arm-breaking requirement was announced at the end of the first game, the participating members of sensitIV all reacted without surprise and prioritized sticking together in case of an attack. SORT OF A, "DEEP DOWN ON SOME LEVEL WE'RE ALL ON THE SAME PAGE HUH" KIND OF THING.
The problem with everyone having amnesia is that it can make it hard to know how well you actually know someone??? But Anubis universally wants to get to know everyone on sensitIV better; he genuinely LIKES everyone on sensitIV, and not just because they're unitmates. Everyone's interesting, everyone's nice! He feels like he fits in. It makes him happy whenever he can express physical affection with them (and even happier when he's not the one to initiate it because /////).
He acknowledges that sensitIV's fashion aesthetic is a little weird, but he doesn't have any real complaints about it. It definitely makes them easy to pick out of a crowd.
Actually, what does Loki think of sensitIV's aesthetic in general? Not just the fashion part, but the assigned role of "the healer team" and the emphasis on emotional vulnerability.
no subject
gosh that's a good question actually.
you didn't say "not the fashion part" so I'm actually going to talk about that briefly before tackling the other stuff. Cause Dantalion actually really unironically likes the visual aesthetic of sensitIV. He likes cute things! And he likes dramatic things. But he's also still keenly aware that he looks weird in sensitIV fashion... partially just intrinsically he's aware of this (there's also a lot of self consciousness he's not actually aware of because of amnesia), but also because of what other people have said etc. He's too big to be cute in cute things. 8( Sad.
But that's not really what you asked for so I'll stop before it becomes five paragraphs about how Dantalion wants to be cute but he can't be cute. THE ROLE AND ALSO THE EMOTIONAL VULNERABILITY STUFF, HUM...
The thing is that Dantalion is naturally very emotionally vulnerable... And it's partially my own personal hang ups with having him "act" emotionally vulnerable, and his own like... inability to really fake his emotions, but it's just difficult for him. He thinks it's annoying and embarrassing, and the initial reaction of most of the teams to their live really didn't help matters. Like at first he thought it might be fun, but then he just got Actually Upset?
I guess that's the ultimate problem is when it comes to lives, it's not on a stage and he's only ever personally met mockery or otherwise negative reactions to it so he doesn't like it..... and since he doesn't like it he gets actually upset. And since he gets actually upset it's not a game anymore. And then of course if there's real feelings involved he doesn't actually want to put himself on display then. Besides if he's REALLY upset he just doesn't think about it...
As for the healing thing! Honestly he's already decided that stuff's not really for him, and he's already decided that if the rest of his team is going to heal he's going to serve as a sort of contrast... by buying the more offensively capable abilities such as Numb and Rewind. Though after the last game where Lucifel was the hostage instead of him he's a little bit BT BT BT BT BT was this useless??? If another game happens and another sensitIV gets targeted that's not him he's going to be really upset and think that it really was pointless for him to get Numb lol.
Anyways he's pretty okay with not being the healer type on the team mostly because he's already decided that since he's one of the more aggressive and less willing to compromise members of sensitIV that just makes him the attack dog. It's fine!!!!
Honestly since he hasn't actually seen or heard from any fans their general existence is nebulous to him too. So he doesn't feel the need to play into the asethetic all that much at all lmao. He's really just more focused on like... discovering himself, and being there for/protecting sensitIV I guess. And finding food that isn't horrible. Those are his biggest concerns in imeeji right now.
Speaking of concerns, what are Anubis' biggest concerns actually? Like what direction is he going in, do you have any plans? What's he most worried about what are his goals etc....
no subject
Right now Anubis is most worried about what's going to happen when someone dies. It's obviously going to happen, and probably soon. His assumptions are: 1) the Producers have the ability to bring someone back from the dead because WHY WOULDN'T THEY with everything else they can do, 2) letting someone stay dead would be a waste of the time and money they've invested into that person so they're not going to do it. But he doesn't know for sure and there are so many unknowns! Plus, what if sensitIV gets blamed for not being able to heal them in time?
His long-term goal is to keep collecting info until he's got something he can use to upset the power balance. He mentioned to Intensity that one idea he's had is making a feint intended to catch the Producers off guard and hopefully learn something really useful, but he doesn't know what would work for that at this point or how to actually have it be a surprise.
His short-term goal has been to buy the three healing skills so that he is Officially Prepared(TM) next time, and he's soooooo close to being able to afford the last one. After that, he's not sure what he's going to spend points on (memories still seem like a big points sink without a guaranteed reward), but he'd like to maybe buy something nice for sensitIV and Nine...? Also he's a YGO so obviously another priority is getting a chance to play some games that don't suck (read: aren't run by the producers/hosts).
As far as MY plans/goals for him go, I'm looking forward to whenever he has his first actual breakdown because that will be fun and he'll probably throw things.
Top three things Loki wants in Imeeji, not counting stuff like "getting rid of the producers/regaining every memory all at once/not being trapped in idol hell"?

There's stuff he definitely admires about Persephone. He has this sense of traditional elegance that sometimes makes Anubis feel a little awkward in comparison. Not in a way where he feels bad about himself, but just in a way where he mentally stops and goes "oh wow" before moving on. He also admires how taking care of other members of the unit seems to come so naturally to Persephone.
But he gets the feeling that sometimes Persephone's... not hiding something, but sort of keeping a bit of a wall up to protect himself? Which, again, makes sense to Anubis, but he enjoys spending time with Persephone and values his opinion a lot, so he'd like it if that wasn't the case. He's not completely sure if that's just him reading too much into things or something Persephone's actually intentionally doing.
Persephone is definitely the prettiest member of sensitIV and Anubis secretly wants to play with his hair.
Reverse!
no subject
For his part, Persephone is kind of aware of his separation from people, even the (few) people he likes: the two memories he's gotten back so far have kind of given him the impression that he was a very solitary person and didn't really have friends. What's a friendship? So Anubis's ease with people is kind of something he...envies is too strong a word, but somewhere on that spectrum? Persephone isn't jealous but it's kind of something he wishes he could do/know more about?
So does Anubis have any crushes or anything like that?
no subject
CRUSHES THO. God. Okay. It's hilarious because 99% of the time when I play Bakura Ryou he's focused on SO MANY OTHER THINGS that stuff like "oh hey they're hot" is a thought that occurs periodically but is then generally ignored because it's not a priority. The problem with Imeeji is that: 1) everyone is hot, 2) there's a lot of downtime where it's impossible to do anything about the ACTUAL REAL IMPORTANT PRIORITIES of getting info/keeping everyone safe/working on some means of escape plan. So #2 results in more time to notice #1.
Anubis gets attached to people pretty easily and he has AT LEAST a friend crush on a bunch of people. sensitIV in general is dangerous territory for those feelings to slip over into straight-up crush territory. He would absolutely be up for experimental makeouts with everyone on sensitIV because whew ////. The only one he's unsure on is Santa, and that's because he's like... "do the facts that I care about her and she's very pretty and her being a robot is extremely cool balance out the fact that I'm pretty sure I'm gay?"
Outside of sensitIV, he's sort of drawn to people with strong personalities? For example, Boss, Intensity, and Phoenix have all made strong impressions on him. That's not at crush level, though.
And then there's Nine, who has probably inspired the most dokidoki feelings FOR LACK OF A BETTER TERM. Right now Anubis is firmly in "feeling like something your twin did for you is a romantic gesture and thinking about kissing him is only weird if HE thinks it's weird and at this point it hasn't come up between us so whatever" territory.
WHAT ABOUT PERSEPHONE. Does he have a crush on or feel (romantically or otherwise) attracted to anyone?
no subject
His feelings re: Kazuebiko are kind of complicated? Like I wouldn't call it a crush, per se, but it's probably the closest thing other than sensitIV to that point?
He's also (probably) going on a date with H, but that's not at all about attraction and more about like...fun?
Least favorite person he's met so far?
no subject
He would have been fine with Cardigan's anger because, yeah, it was a shitty situation and people got hurt... except the longer they talked, the less charitable he started to feel. The nail in the coffin was Cardigan framing Anubis' statement that sensitIV was going to take responsibility for their actions as a "martyr complex"... right after saying that they basically expected sensitIV to purposefully injure themselves, then heal themselves, and THEN heal the other teams. If Loki hadn't stepped in, things might have gotten nasty.
Speaking of which, what's Persephone's take on being the designated healer team?
no subject
Like he acknowledges that they're privileged because they can fix the damage that they do but at the same time, it's not fair to hold them to an impossible standard that most people can't even do just because they have healing powers. And on a pragmatic level, it's just stupid to expect them to get hurt, heal themselves, and then heal everyone else every time because first that means everyone else has to wait while they heal themselves (unless the expectation is that they just heal everyone while still fucked up themselves which is doubly unfair) and second that'll just compound their trauma and make them less able to, you know, do their job?
Basically it's not the Designated Healer Team that bothers him, it's...other people.
Do you have any songs that you associate with Anubis?
